Theosophical Society

From the June 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is interesting to hear that Professor Coues, who has been so prominent in the Theosophical movement in this country, proposes giving up his connection with the society. He says—or is reported as saying—that he does not altogether like the company in which he finds himself, and that only his strong intellect has kept him from losing his reason in this pursuit of mystical lore. Nevertheless, he affirms that remarkable discoveries have been made as to the separateness of Soul from body.
