LANDMARKS

From the May 1887 issue of The Christian Science Journal

David declares that the word of God is a lamp to his feet, and a light to his path. Truly it is to each one of us a light, a guide, without which we should wander in Stygian darkness.

The mythical Diogenes, with a lantern, searched for an honest man. As both searcher and sought-for, as well as the light, were material, of course the search was vain.

In the second verse of the twenty-fourth chapter of Job, it is declared, that "Some remove the landmarks;" and in Deuteronomy, 19th chapter and 14th verse, is the direct command, "Thou shall not remove thy neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it."
