The readers of the Journal have shown such unvarying...

From the May 1903 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE readers of the Journal have shown such unvarying kindness and appreciation that we feel sure they will pardon our use of part of the editorial space of this number for the purpose of making a suggestion necessary for the convenience of both reader and publisher.

The suggestion we venture to make is that those who are in the habit of purchasing single copies of the Journal will subscribe by the year for all the copies they may need. Our reason for this suggestion is that the unprecedented demand for the Journal during the past four months has entirely exhausted our supply of the January, February, and March issues, notwithstanding a generous increase in the number of copies printed, and at this date it is somewhat doubtful if the April issue will be sufficient to meet the demand for it, although we printed several thousand extra copies. If our readers will subscribe regularly for the number of copies they desire for their own use and for distribution among their friends, they will eliminate all risk of failure to obtain issues which are in more than ordinary demand, and will enable us to estimate more nearly the size of the edition to be printed each month.

In order to meet the condition created by the rapid sale of the January, February, and March issues, we are publishing two pamphlets made up of articles copied from those numbers. One pamphlet, called "Prayer and Confidence," will contain "Victory Over Fear" from the January Journal, ''The Individuality and Simplicity of Prayer" from February, and "Confidence" and "In God We Trust" from the March number. The other pamphlet will be called "The Los Angeles Case," and will contain the speech of Mr. Harris, and the testimony from the February Journal, also the testimony in the same case which appeared in the Sentinel of January 22.
