For many years I had heart, liver, and kidney trouble. Physicians could not help me, and so for seven long years I had given up everything, and was waiting for death to free me, when I heard of Christian Science. My children then sent me to Berlin for treatment. This occurred in 1902. I soon felt that one trouble after another was disappearing. I was especially happy that I could sleep again, and sleep lying down, because I had spent the greater part of the nights sitting in a chair. I have learned to walk again, like a child, and when I could go to the service for the first time I was indeed very happy, and especially that I had the use of my voice again, so I could sing in the meeting, because I had formerly just been able to whisper.
After three months of Christian Science treatment I returned home happy and well. The physicians had said that they could not give me a new heart, but God has given me a new heart by the renewing of my mind. All honor is due to Him alone! Once I noticed that there seemed to be a black spot before my left eye, and I could not see with it. I wrote to the dear practitioner to give me treatment again. She gladly did so, and each day brought an improved condition, until I could see with that eye as well as with the other. I could speak of many more blessings which came to me through Christian Science. For the understanding of God and the Bible I cannot be too grateful, and for all I have received through the reading of Der Herold der Christian Science. My husband also has become whole in mind and body since I came into Christian Science, and I am now happy, contented, and in harmony with my family.
