It is with a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science that I add my testimony to the healing power of Truth. Many knew of my affliction, and in a material way sympathized with me and did all in their power to alleviate my suffering, but without any relief. For a number of years my illness seemed to be of a dropsical nature—my hands and feet being swollen all of the time. About three years ago my body was nearly covered with an eruption, and I was not free from it a moment for two years. During this time I had the best of attention from several of our most competent physicians, but grew worse. A change of surroundings, water, etc., was suggested, and I located elsewhere for nearly a year. I was very happily and comfortably situated, but the change brought no relief. I finally asked who was considered the best physician in the town, and soon placed myself under his treatment. I wish to say that I had great faith in this physician, and felt that I would be cured. He said he could cure me; but time went on, and as I grew worse he acknowledged that he was puzzled. When asked if he had ever seen a similar case, he said that he once had a case where the conditions, as he described them, were terrible. With this picture before me I turned to another doctor, only to meet with the same result.
Discouraged and sick, I returned home. At this time and for several months afterward I was so disfigured that often I would not let any one see me. There was one thing left to try, and that was Christian Science. I felt sure it would not do me any harm, but I was decidedly skeptical as to its doing me any good. With this thought I went to see a practitioner, and she, after telling me that there is nothing impossible with God, began treating me. The second day I was entirely healed. I shall never forget the expression on the faces of my mother and sister as they saw this transformation. We all dropped to our knees and thanked God for His loving kindness.
I can but feebly express my gratitude for this truth that brings such results as those demonstrated by Christian Science. I am grateful for the physical healing, but much more grateful for the peace of mind that the study has brought, and for being conscious of God's presence and power.— East Cleveland, O.
