Over three years ago one who is very dear to me was...

From the March 1908 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Over three years ago one who is very dear to me was healed in Christian Science, when all other remedies had been tried and had failed to give relief. Through this healing I became interested in Christian Science and began to read the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, seriously but critically. Within its pages I found what I had failed to find in any church, book, or philosophy, namely, a Principle, and a definite rule that proves effective and is operative in any and every condition of human thought and activity. During these years I have had constant evidence of mental growth, of the removal of obstacles of all sorts, and of the annihilation of a sense of limitation; and this evidence was brought to me through the study of the Bible, which took on a new meaning when studied in the light of the definitions and explanations given in Science and Health.

Several months ago I had two proofs (in my own experience) of the infallible healing power of divine Mind. The first case was what is generally recognized as a serious throat trouble. A prominent physician pronounced it the worst case he had ever seen. After four days' ineffective work on my own part, during which time I suffered much pain and could take no food, I called in a practitioner. When she came to me in the evening I was unable to talk, but after the treatment I had a good night's rest. In the morning I was free from pain, could talk without the slightest difficulty, and ate a hearty breakfast with relish and comfort. This was the end of that discord. The second case came soon after, and was a severe and complicated attack of lung trouble. This, too, was met in Christian Science, and within two weeks' time I was up and about. My strength returned so quickly that two weeks later I was able to do nine weeks of very strenuous and exacting work without the slightest sign of fatigue. In fact, I have felt better in every way than ever before in my whole life.

In the face of such evidence what mental or physical condition is there that we need fear? I am perfectly convinced that Christian Science calls our attention to a remedy that cannot fail us, no matter what the conditions or circumstances may be. It gives me great pleasure to testify to the benefits I have derived from this very common-sense Science.
