Having received blessings which words can never express...

From the April 1908 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Having received blessings which words can never express, I submit the following testimony with deepest gratitude for the help I have received through Christian Science. For several years I had been associated with Christian Scientists, but believing myself to be satisfied with what I received in the church of which I was then a member, I did not investigate. Some months ago, however, while away from home, I was suddenly taken sick with what proved to be serious lung trouble. The doctor whom I employed gave me no hope, and his only advice to me was to go home. My mental condition was, if possible, worse than the physical. I was utterly heartsick, and felt that my burdens were indeed more than I could bear. In this state I came home, hoping that I might die, if by so doing I could end my distress of both mind and body. In this condition I sent for a Christian Science practitioner, who came and gave me treatment. Before he had left the house the intense pain in my head had ceased, and I was sleeping naturally, something I had not done for two weeks. For ten years I had suffered greatly from gall stones, and had an enlarged neck which caused me great discomfort. These troubles also have disappeared. In all I took about three weeks' treatment, and to-day I am well! I have never enjoyed such perfect health in my life. When but a child I had paralytic trouble, which left one foot and ankle in quite a bad condition,— a condition which the doctors said could never be overcome. At this time, however, I am able to state that I have never walked so easily since I can remember, and I am improving all the time.

While I have been able to state in a humble manner all this help which has been given to me in a physical way, words fail me when I attempt to tell of my spiritual uplifting. I am daily searching "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, that I may better understand this Principle which has been my salvation, and the search is very satisfying.
