Christian Science has proved such a blessing to me that I am writing this testimony in the hope that it may help and encourage some one who is seeking the truth. When the Christian Science text-book. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was lent to me, I did not read it with any idea of its healing me;but I was so impressed with what I read that I immediately began to put its teachings into practice, with the result that my whole outlook on life has been changed. I had never been really strong, and I seemed to contract every disease with which humanity is afflicted. I suffered with a weak back all my life, and had to lie down for some time daily; but now my back never aches and is quite cured. I am stronger than I have ever been, and have never required or taken medicine since I began to read the book.
Christian Science has also cured me of worrying and of a very hasty temper. I find it of the greatest help with the children, as it makes their lives happy and has given them a freedom once never dreamed possible. A short time ago my two children, aged seven and five years, were taken very ill, and I telephoned to a practitioner for treatment. This was readily given, but to comply with the law, she advised me to call in a doctor. We did so, and on his arrival he found the temperature in each case to be very high. He declared that they had all the symptoms of a fever, and told me to get a nurse at once; but I waited until the next morning, and then they were so much better I could hardly keep them in bed. The third day the doctor pronounced them well (they had taken no medicine), and they then got up, went out of doors, and have been perfectly well ever since. The Christian Science practitioner gave them absent treatment, and it was a beautiful proof to us of the ever-presence of the Christ.
My husband also is deriving much benefit from the study of Christian Science, and we are rejoicing daily and feel full of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the freedom that has come and is still coming to our home. We have never been so happy, and I can truly say of "the cares that infest the day," with the American poet, that they "fold their tents like the Arabs, and as silently steal away."
