During the summer of 1910 we took a vacation trip, and had been at the resort but a short time when our three-year-old daughter began to cough. Although I tried to meet the trouble in Science to the best of my knowledge, it increased perceptibly, and the child was pitied a great deal by the guests at the resort, the discord thus being made very real. I was given all kinds of advice as to what remedies should be used to counteract the trouble. I myself knew of but one way in which true and quick help could come, yet although I had had such wonderful results with the same child formerly, this time I did not seem to succeed in helping her. The attacks of coughing grew more alarming, one following another, and for three consecutive nights we were unable to sleep. So we returned home, but even then there was no improvement and the trouble rather increased in severity.
I then applied to a Christian Science practitioner, and treatment was taken up at once, the result being that we all spent the following night in restful sleep, without the child having a single attack, for which our gratitude was great. We had but one more bad night, and this was due to treatment not having been given. The attacks during the day diminished in severity and frequency. The rapid disappearance of the much dreaded cough did not take place without attracting attention, and I was asked repeatedly as to the means which had brought relief in so surprisingly short a time.
From the depths of my heart I thank God whose power is ever available to free us from evil. How many are the proofs which we have had of His all-encompassing love! We shall daily strive to realize that we live, move, and have our being in Him.— Bern, Switzerland.
