When Christian Science was presented to me I had been suffering for fifteen years from what the doctors called chronic lumbago. At one time I was confined to the bed for several weeks and could not be turned over or change my position; at other times I would be just able to get around the house with help. After sitting down for any length of time I would have to go around in a bent-over position before I could straighten up. I had taken all kinds of rheumatic cures, so called, and was constantly doctoring. After trying our local doctors a physician near Hartford was consulted, and he told me the complaint had become chronic and could not be cured.
One day a dear friend called, and seeing me attempting to work in such a crippled condition asked if I had tried Christian Science. I said I had not, but would try anything. He brought me a copy of Science and Health and I started at once to read it. Not over one third of the book had been read when one morning, to my surprise, I raised myself right up out of bed and put my clothes on without any pain, which was something I had not done before in years. I felt so joyful that I ran into the room where my family were and told them I was healed; and it was so, for that was about six years ago. Though fifty-three years of age I can work without getting tired, and feel today as I did when at the age of twenty, and can do more than I could do then, for now work is a pleasure.
I am very thankful to God for all this, and also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for placing before mankind this great truth that Christ Jesus used and taught. — New Milford, Conn.
