I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me each day. Since beginning to study it several years ago, I have been relieved of a chronic ailment from which I had suffered for ten or twelve years. After preparing for bed one very cold night, I went to the kitchen to warm some milk. In lighting the gas the flame caught my sleeve, and when I tried to smother it with the other hand the lower part of my nightgown caught, and I was soon enveloped in flames. I was alone, so had to act quickly, and lost no time in audibly declaring the truth that God is ever with us and omnipotent. Before the fire had reached my shoulders it went out all at once, leaving the seared gown and my singed hair, which was hanging down my back in a braid. Afterward I discovered I had been standing in a draft, which gave the fire a better chance.
I have also been healed of a discordant condition which caused a great deal of discomfort, as for a week it was impossible to find a comfortable position in which to sleep. Through the help of a practitioner the fear which held me concerning this condition was overcome and the healing took place. In the summer of 1914 my heart began to trouble me, but through faithful study of the Lesson-Sermons and the truth gained in reading the Journal and Sentinel, this condition has been overcome. Christian Science helps me in all the problems of every-day life and meets my every need. My husband has also been greatly benefited by it. He was healed of a chronic throat affection which used to appear with almost every change of the seasons, causing him to be laid up, oftentimes in the hospital.
For all these blessings, which are only a few of the many, I am indeed thankful to God, and am grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us the way. — Cambridge, Mass.
