It is with much joy and gratitude that I send this testimony of my healing in Christian Science. I had been ill with a complication of diseases for more than fifteen years, a constant sufferer night and day. Though able to drag myself about most of the time, I was never free from pain.
Many physicians treated me, but no two of them seemed to agree, and at last it was decided that nothing would help me but an operation for a large growth in my right side. Having a dread of operations, I went to another physician, an old friend of our family, who gave me a thorough examination, also made a test of my blood which showed it to be very much under normal. He said that for this reason he dared not operate, as it would be fatal. He gave me the strongest tonics he could prepare, and said that if an improvement took place he might be able to operate. I returned to my home without hope, and the improvement never came with drugs.
One day I picked up a paper containing a Christian Science lecture, and after reading it felt that there might be hope for me. After talking with a lady who had been helped in Christian Science, I went to see a practitioner. Treatment was given me, and I soon began to improve. I had not been able to sleep without the use of drugs for years, but the first night after receiving treatment I slept like a child. For two weeks before going to the practitioner I had eaten nothing but bread dried in an oven and grated, but I could soon eat so well that my family begged me to be careful for fear of bad results. The good work went on, however, until from a sallow-faced invalid I changed into a healthy and robust woman.
