For over six years I had been reading Science and Health, mostly with the desire for bodily health or ease from pain, and with little or no thought of any change in religious views, as I thought I was good enough. Then I was stricken with a very serious illness, but from the beginning refused to have a physician or medicine, as there was a sense of security in God's presence and power. It seemed best to have help from a Christian Science practitioner, and after having three days' treatment I awoke one morning to the glorious fact that I had been healed. There was a sense of freedom from bondage, especially from asthma, a condition that had bound me for twenty years, and the heart failure which in belief often follows this disease.
With this healing my whole being was filled with a great love to God. Now I am reading Science and Health with higher views, in connection with the Lesson-Sermons, and I also read the periodicals and attend Christian Science services. I recognize a growth in understanding which enables me to demonstrate the truth,— the truth that the Master said would make free.—Danville, lll.
