Testimonies of Healing

In deepest love and gratitude I...

From the March 1918 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In deepest love and gratitude I send my testimony. I realized only a short time ago what my first healing in Christian Science really was—the overcoming of any reliance on material means in sickness. From the hour when I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," six years ago, I have not used a material remedy. Mrs. Eddy tells us in the first few lines in the chapter on Prayer (p. 1), "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." That, then and there, became my faith, and the understanding of God has come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. Lumbago, influenza, colds, burns, and neuritis have been overcome.

For a few weeks after my first healing it seemed as though no one could be happier than I, and I never seemed to grow tired. Seeming obstacles and trials have come, but I am grateful that through the understanding of Christian Science I recognize their source to be not of God, therefore not real. I am thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her consecrated life and her gift to this age, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which gives us a better understanding of the Bible, of God, and of our relation to Him and to our brother man.—
