It gives me great pleasure to be able to write a testimony of my healing through Christian Science. About three years ago I was troubled with severe pains in my head and shoulders. The doctors said the condition was caused by overworked nerves, and prescribed a thorough rest. I rested for about six months, but the pains continued, so the doctors began to give me all the medicine they dared prescribe. I was also sent to St. Louis to see eminent eye and nose specialists, but without any satisfactory results.
One morning on trying to arise I found that I had lost the use of both legs and could not move. In the course of about three months I could use one leg but could do nothing at all with the other. My spine was terribly curved, and I could not lift my left foot from the ground. The doctors then told me they had done all they could do for me and that I would be a cripple the rest of my life. I had heard of Christian Science but had never studied it, and consequently knew nothing at all about it. Some one in a joking way said I had tried everything else and why not try Christian Science. I took it seriously, however, and called on a practitioner that night. In thirty days I was walking around again and was just as straight as ever. I have not had a touch of the old pain since, and never felt better in my life.
When I see the suffering all around me, both mental and physical, which could all be wiped out if people knew of the goodness of God and would listen to the teachings of Christ Jesus, my heart is deeply touched. I thank God every day of my life for the good that has come to me through Christian Science.— Hannibal, Mo.
