Testimonies of Healing

I am realizing more and more each...

From the May 1918 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am realizing more and more each day what a blessing it was when Christian Science came into my life. When I was fifteen years of age my father was healed of kidney trouble in a few treatments, after he had been given up by the doctors. Christian Science produced a transformation in our family, for instead of sickness, financial lack, and the inharmony such conditions bring, we began to express health, prosperity, happiness, and harmony. Malaria, which had troubled us greatly, disappeared. We began to go to church, and to make Sunday a day of rest, which we had never done before. As a child I had earnestly longed to know about God and to attend church, and it seemed as if this was the answer to my prayer.

At this time I was in my second year in high school, with a great desire to continue my studies at the university. This would have been impossible under the old conditions, but through the change which this demonstrable religion brought into our lives, I was enabled to complete a five years' college course. Christian Science was my constant help and protection, making my studies easier through the understanding of the one Mind, and all conditions harmonious. In my teaching work which followed, this truth was a joy and an inspiration. Several attacks of sickness were quickly overcome, so that not a day was lost from my work on account of illness. Now, in my own home with two small children, this healing truth is our only remedy, and we find it both curative and preventive. The so-called law of contagious diseases was recently proved null and void by the recognition of the law of divine Mind.

At the birth of each of my children, Christian Science was of great help. In the first case the doctor in attendance almost despaired of saving either the baby or myself, but we both came through the experience safely, and in two weeks I was doing my own housework and caring for the baby. In the second instance the birth was almost painless, and it did not seem necessary to remain in bed, though I did so for a few days.
