I desire to express my thankfulness to God for Christian Science, and my gratitude to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder. I am grateful for our reading rooms, and especially for the spiritual uplift gained through the study of our literature.
Christian Science was presented to me in March, 1914, by a friend, and it was while reading a testimony in the literature lent me that I first caught a glimpse of this beautiful truth. It was the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy that convinced me. Although I did not take up the study primarily for physical healing, I soon saw my need of both physical and moral healing. Since then coughs, colds, bowel trouble, biliousness, and malarial rheumatism have been overcome. The smoking habit of about thirty years' duration left within thirty days after taking up the study, and glasses which were used for nine years have been laid aside.
I find that Christian Science is primarily a religion; secondarily, it heals. The healing is but the evidence or proof of its divine nature. This religion teaches how to put out of one's life thoughts of anger, resentment, criticism, and profanity, and replace them with good thoughts (God's thoughts), whereby we become obedient to the law of God, good, which rightfully understood destroys all sin, disease, and death, and leads to eternal harmony. God's law demands that motives must be good; then the fruits of goodness follow. I am truly grateful for the privilege of class instruction.—Indianapolis, Ind.
