Testimonies of Healing

I wish to add my testimony of the...

From the August 1918 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to add my testimony of the healing power of divine Truth. For four years we have depended upon Christian Science for our aid in all problems, and have experienced many wonderful healings,—demonstrations of the ability of divine Love to meet all our needs. One of the most beautiful was the instantaneous healing of our little boy, about two years of age, when he swallowed some muriatic acid. A practitioner treated him and in half an hour he ate his dinner. He had been crying because of the burn, but he made no more complaint, and we were unable to find any ill effects.

About a month later, in September, 1916, this same child was severely bitten in the face by a dog. I declared the truth for him to the best of my ability, but the owner of the dog kept insisting on doing something, so I told him that he might telephone to a practitioner and ask her to treat the child. The man, however, went after the lady, bringing her back with him in an automobile. By the time they reached our home the boy was asleep. The practitioner did her work most lovingly, and the little fellow slept until noon,—about two hours. He ate a hearty lunch and played happily all the afternoon. There was some swelling, and a little discoloration for a day or two, but absolutely no inflammation, and the wounds healed without fester or scab. He did not lose an hour's sleep or play, and in two weeks there was little trace of any trouble.

This same child was healed of acute lung trouble when he was eight months old, and a case of malignant sore throat and paralysis of the palate was most beautifully overcome for our six-year-old daughter. My own healing seemed wonderful both to myself and to many friends, who have watched me change from a frail woman, broken down with nervous prostration, and under the doctor's verdict that nothing but a surgical operation would ever put me on my feet again, to a strong, cheerful person who does all the work for a family of seven.
