I am grateful to our eternal Father-Mother God for having enabled me to apprehend and find the way to Christian Science, after long searching and suffering. In 1917 I was seized with catarrh of the lungs, chest, and bronchial tubes, together with lingering pleurisy. After having been confined to my bed for fourteen weeks, the physician advised me to go to a sanatorium to perfect the healing, but as the various places where inquiry was made were already filled, it was not possible for me to do this. I was, however, welcomed kindly by dear relatives in the Bernese Alps, and in three months had seemingly regained my health. I felt so well that the doctor told me I could resume my work; but it was only for a short while.
In March, 1918, this dread disease reappeared in an aggravated form, so the physician prepared us for the worst. After being again forced to spend thirteen weeks in bed, I was visited by a lady who knew of my condition, and who called my attention to Christian Science. I was very much interested in this teaching and requested her to have treatment given me. I then studied the Herold and soon, like a saving angel, the practitioner came and offered me assistance. From that time on I felt easier, as did also my dear parents, for they too aided me in prayer. In two weeks I could go out. To the great joy of every one I could resume my work after six weeks' treatment in Christian Science, and upon further examinations by my physician I was pronounced completely cured.
I cannot thank God sufficiently for His great goodness in sending a ray of divine Truth to me, thereby enabling me to perceive the falsity of disease, sin, and death. Great thankfulness is also due Mrs. Eddy for her clear explanations in Science and Health, which will forever be a guide to us.—St. Gall, Switzerland.
