With gratitude I testify to the power of Truth. In the winter of 1914 we rented furnished rooms at the home of a Christian Science practitioner. It was there I first heard of this beautiful truth and became interested in its teachings. Our boy had been in the hospital for five years, as he had had the misfortune of breaking his hip joint twice and tubercular disease had set in. After these many years he was pronounced fit to take home, although his leg was still in a cast and orders were given for him to use his crutches and to rest every afternoon, as he was very delicate. He was eleven years old at this time.
The Christian Science practitioner with whom we were living met him as the cab drove up to the house and said he need never use those crutches again—and he never did, for I asked her to treat him and she did so. That was in February. He got stronger day by day and listened when we read the Lesson-Sermon daily. The practitioner advised us to have the cast taken off, but at first the boy's father was afraid to do so. Then the Friday evening before Easter his fear was overcome and he removed the cast. The leg was very thin and stiff, but it became normal in a few days, and our son went to school after the holidays. He soon ran about like other children and kept regular attendance. He is now in an office and attends technical school at night. He runs, and chops wood, and is strong and healthy.
I am very thankful for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science. I do not take medicine of any kind, whereas I used to be continually taking some drug for headaches. Now I resort to nothing but Truth. I thank God that I heard of Christian Science.—Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
