At the time Christian Science was brought to our attention, we had been seeking a place where our daughter could learn the truth about God. Our experience in endeavoring to find this truth had led us through devious paths, and we were still seeking when the textbook of Christian Science was lent to us. A careful study of this book soon convinced us we had at last found that which we sought, and it has been with great joy we have followed its teachings.
About three months after we began the study of Christian Science there came an opportunity to prove the omnipotence of God. One day while going about my duties in the plant where I was employed, my heel caught on a step as I was about halfway down the stairs, and I was thrown violently forward down the steps, a distance of about eight feet, landing on one foot, which doubled under my weight and threw me to the cement floor. I got up immediately and made my way to a packing case and sat down, uttering to myself the first sentence of the scientific statement of being (Science and Health, p. 468). In a very few minutes I was able to go about my work, which necessitated considerable walking. This occurred about ten o'clock in the morning. In the evening as I started for home a great sense of pain seemed to manifest itself, and it was with great difficulty that I at length reached my home.
I immediately sat down and read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and in fifteen minutes' time I was able to walk without any inconvenience and the next day walked several miles of city streets without experiencing any difficulty. To the physical senses there was every evidence of a bad sprain which would have confined me to my home for several days.
