In gratitude for relief from physical pain and mental suffering I give this testimony. In 1902 I was teaming and had to keep a book account, and was in such condition I would fall asleep while entering our accounts and could not keep awake while in a warm room. My skin, throat, and mouth were dry and parched, my eyes were inflamed and felt as if there was dust in them, and periodically I was in a high fever. I tried various reputed cures, followed physicians' advice and took their prescribed tonics, without any lasting benefit and each succeeding attack was more severe and stubborn than the preceding one. During one of these attacks a friend asked me to try Christian Science and took me to a practitioner. I was instantaneously healed, which healing has proved to be permanent.
After this healing I went back to drugs for some minor ailments, until sciatic rheumatism held me in bondage. Then I remembered my former deliverance and again sought Christian Science, and was healed in one week. A few months later I was instantaneously healed of lumbago of many years' standing.
Then I wanted to know the how and why of these healings and began to read and study Mrs. Eddy's writings in earnest, with the result that cuts, burns, and accidents have been overcome, often with no pain and always without distress. I have also been freed from headaches that used to attack me about monthly.
