It is with a deep feeling of love for Mrs. Eddy that I express my gratitude for Christian Science. In March, 1911, I attended my first Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and although there were only a few people present I felt that truly God is the divine Principle of being. For years I had groped in the dark byways of mortal beliefs, trying to understand God and existence, but I came no nearer a satisfying solution of the problem; therefore there swept over me a wave of great joy and happiness when I learned that God is the divine Principle of being. At once I had a living, omnipresent God from whom I could never be separated for a moment; who is truly a present help in time of trouble.
There followed immediately many opportunities to prove the infallibility of the truths I had been learning. An affection of the skin, which a doctor had declared would return every year, was healed five years ago, and although there was one slight return, the trouble was quickly overcome. Bitterness, resentment, and feelings of injustice have been cast out of my consciousness, and life is now altogether different. Self-pity and morbidness have given place to peace, happiness, and joy. The Bible, which was a closed book, is an illumined guide for every day, and the Lesson-Sermons are a source of inspiration. I cannot feel grateful enough to our Leader for the many ways she has provided, whereby we can learn more and more of this healing truth, and so bring it to others. My daily prayer is that I may live closer and closer to Principle, God. In the words of Paul, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift."—Christchurch, New Zealand.
