Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express through the columns...

From the December 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express through the columns of the Sentinel or Journal my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me and for the whole world. In the five years that I have been interested it has met every need. Whether the need has been the solution of a business or financial problem, or the healing of a physical ill, it has always been met through the understanding of Christian Science.

I wish to relate an experience of protection while over in France, at the front. The enemy had sent over some bombing planes and I could tell, by the exploding of bombs, that they were coming our way. As the noncommissioned officer in charge of the guard that night and the only Christian Scientist in the company, I felt indeed grateful for the opportunity to prove God's protecting power. In realizing the truth of the ninety-first psalm the demonstration was beautifully made, for the planes came directly over us and two bombs were dropped about twenty-five yards beyond where we were. Although some of the pup tents were spattered with mud, and pieces of steel from the bomb were lying all around, there was no one hurt.

I have overcome the smoking habit, to which I had been a slave for about eight years. I had tried to quit several times before, without results, but when reading the Christian Science textbook it left me instantly and I have had no desire to smoke since. I am grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me, grateful to God and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—
