Testimonies of Healing

With a thankful heart I wish to...

From the March 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With a thankful heart I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science. During the year 1913, a friend from America, who was visiting here, called my attention to Christian Science, and after that I received Der Herold monthly and began to read it with interest. In 1915 I suffered from a skin trouble which affected me greatly. I went to a practitioner and tearfully told her of my trouble and was lovingly comforted and given treatment, and returned home happy and confident. My relatives were very much opposed to Christian Science and wrote to my husband, who at that time was at the front. He came home immediately and insisted upon my going to a physician, who voiced the most rigid laws for me, but I knew that God's law would make such laws null and void, for I was convinced that God only could be my Physician, and divine Mind my only medicine. I was freed, through God's help only, from this trouble, as well as from a form of headache from which I had suffered since childhood.

This experience satisfied not only my relatives, but my husband as well. My two children attend the Christian Science Sunday school and I am grateful to be able to bring them up in this right way of thinking. My husband was wonderfully cared for and protected while at the front, and was recently healed in three treatments of an unsightly disease. Through these and other proofs he also was fully convinced of the healing power of the truth, and for this I thank God heartily.

One night I was stricken with severe pains in the abdomen, and the night was a terrible one. The next morning my husband requested Christian Science treatment for me. Toward noon the pains were again experienced in a more severe form and my husband called a physician, who diagnosed the trouble as a growth in the abdomen and said I should be taken to the hospital immediately to be operated upon. I would not hear of it, however, and requested that a practitioner come to see me. Before she left me I was able to sit up. The following night passed very well, and the next morning I was able to get up and help somewhat with the housework. Within a few days I was healed and am now enjoying the best of health.
