A few years ago, through several Christian Scientists of this city letting their light shine, my husband and I were led to get the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading the chapter on Prayer I regretted ever having entertained wrong thoughts about Mrs. Eddy. What she must have endured to give this truth to the world, we can only faintly realize. I then studied the Bible Lessons from the Quarterly during all my spare time, and eagerly hurried through with my work to return to this interesting study.
For a long time before this, I had been taking material medicine for an internal trouble. A doctor had told my husband I should have a surgical operation to save me from becoming a chronic invalid. Having already had two operations some years previously, I decided against a third; for I saw no hope of permanent recovery. Shortly after we began to study Christian Science, my husband and I walked to the other side of the city to visit friends. He noticed I was walking quite easily, and remarked about the great change in me. Christian Science had healed me. Since then I have been quite free from this trouble. I can be on my feet all day, and walk without any distress or fatigue.
I had worn glasses for six years, and had to have the lenses changed from time to time. One Sunday morning the glasses broke in church, and when repaired, did not suit my eyesight; so I took them off, and I saw so clearly without them that I have never worn glasses since. Severe sick headaches, grippe, bad colds, burns, toothache, sciatica, and other ailments, have all been healed through Christian Science. Sometimes we have had to call on a practitioner; and the help has been lovingly given and benefit has been received. I feel grateful for this help, and for association with more experienced students of Christian Science, who have helped me on the straight and narrow road.
