Mine was a case of tuberculosis of the lungs, brought about, probably, by fear and worry over my sister's death from the same trouble. Before this time, I had no idea that my usual good health could be menaced from this source, or that fear was seemingly so powerful. The persistency of this fear, added to the fears of friends, doctors, and experience in sanitariums, left me a hopeless hemorrhage case, within two years. I came home. Fortunately, my mother was then living where close friends could not easily come in frequent personal contact, so that when the study of Christian Science was proposed and finally entered upon, the opposition of well-wishing but contrary-minded friends did not deter my advancement. This freedom, and the perfect confidence I felt in the kindly Christian Science practitioner, who so readily showed me the unreasonableness of my old habits of thought, and explained the perfectly logical truths of Christian Science, helped to contribute to my rapid restoration to normal health.
Christian Science makes for harmony in every conceivable phase of daily life, but its lasting benefits come only through individual efforts to gain understanding. I am sincerely grateful for Christian Science, and to all who have helped me to an understanding of it.—Lowell, Mass.
