I am very grateful for the many...

From the May 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am very grateful for the many blessings I have received through the healing influence of Christian Science, which has been our only physician for twenty years. I did not take up the study of Christian Science through the physical healing of myself; my attention was called to it through the healing of my wife and my daughter. My wife was healed of an abscess; my daughter, of typhoid fever, after she had been given up by a physician to die.

I have, however, received many physical healings. Stomach trouble, typhoid fever, sprained ankle, and other ills have been overcome; also the tobacco habit. The demonstration which seems to stand out most vividly in my thought is one which occurred about two years ago. While cutting grass in the back yard with a rusty sickle, I accidentally cut my hand, severing an artery. After an unsuccessful effort to stop the flow of blood, a Christian Science practitioner was called. Through her realization of God's presence and power, the bleeding ceased, and the healing was rapid and complete. In fact, during the healing process there was absolutely no inflammation, no soreness or discomfort of any kind.

I am indeed grateful to God for the truth about life, to Christ Jesus, the great Exemplar, and to Mrs. Eddy for giving us a system for teaching this world the truth about God and man so that we can apply it in our daily experience.—
