In 1906, after many years of suffering and semi-invalidism, a friend asked me to try Christian Science. My daughter bought "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, also a Christian Science Quarterly for me; and I read the book and studied the Lesson-Sermons faithfully. It was not long until many of the minor ills disappeared, never to return. Later, a severe attack of pneumonia was overcome in about thirty-five hours by studying the Lesson-Sermon. Heart trouble was healed instantly, when it seemed as though I could not take another breath, and everything had turned black to me. Through the loving help of a practitioner I was completely healed of neuritis, for which I am most grateful; also for the spiritual regeneration and uplift of consciousness.
A case that seems most wonderful to me was one healed by mental surgery. In 1909 I had a rib broken. I turned at once to Christian Science for help, and the pain was met in just a few minutes, so that I forgot all about the injury. The third day, I lifted a child; and it seemed to part the bones. From then on, my side bothered me if I lifted much. Finally, six years later, a serious condition seemed to be manifested, and my friends thought I would pass on. I asked for help in Christian Science, with the result that the bones knitted together properly; the trouble was completely overcome, and I was able to travel in five days. I resorted to Christian Science four different times for the breaking of bones, and was healed each time by mental surgery, once through using the Lesson-Sermon.
I am most grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church, also in a branch church, and for the privilege of class instruction. Words cannot express my gratitude for the wonderful help that has come to me and to my family through Christian Science, and for the privilege of being able to help others.
