ONE of the greatest joys the Christian Scientist experiences is in learning to see opportunity for demonstration in a "problem," as there dawns upon him something of the realization of God's ever present, available help. He can say with Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." And with Paul he may also say, "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." This point of view begins at once to remove that tribe of errors known as self-pity, discouragement, worry, grief, fear; for who does not rejoice when confronted with opportunity?
The Christian Scientist's joy lies in knowing that Christian Science presents an invariable divine Principle, and an invariable spiritual rule by which this Principle may be demonstrated in human affairs. Mrs. Eddy has established the standard of scientific demonstration in passages which every Christian Scientist may find for himself in her writings; and as her followers, we cannot too often, or too prayerfully, ponder that standard, and endeavor to have our work measure up to it.
The model of scientific demonstration is the life and healing work of Christ Jesus, the Way-shower. In the raising of Lazarus the student of Christian Science finds many an illuminating lesson.
