Several years ago, after becoming interested in Christian Science, I was in an automobile accident and sustained what seemed very severe injuries. A physician was called against my wishes and examined me. This, together with an X-ray examination at the urgent request of an automobile insurance company involved, was the only medical attention I received. The medical verdict was a broken or fractured pelvis (hip bone) and internal injuries. It was stated that if I did not receive immediate medical care I would never walk again; and even with this care, there was no assurance that I would not be lame. This medical care would include a probable operation and remaining in a cast for two or three months. A Christian Science practitioner, who had been called at my request, arrived shortly after the physician left, and treatment began at once. Within thirty-six hours the intense pain left me, and with some assistance I was able to sit up. In about four weeks I took my first step, and since then have been able to walk and run just as I had always done.
This is only one of many proofs of the power of God that I have experienced. It seems so wonderful to learn that we have a loving Father-Mother God, to whom we may go with our every problem, knowing that it will be solved, and that with the solving of each problem we have taken one step nearer heaven. To say that I am grateful to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for Christian Science does not seem to convey the real gratitude that I feel; and I know that the only way to express this gratitude is daily, hourly, to strive for the Mind of Christ.—Sacramento, Calif.
