I came into Christian Science over seventeen years ago through the healling of my baby girl. She had erysipelas, and was the most pitiful sight I had ever seen. The physician had given her up, saying nothing more could be done. I had a couple of friends who were interested in Christian Science, and they asked me to try it, saying if it did no good it surely could do no harm. As all material means had failed and every other hope was exhausted, I turned to Christian Science as a last resort. The little one was healed almost instantaneously, and to this day has never taken a drop of medicine. Some of my neighbors said I should not have anything to do with Christian Science as it was the work of the devil, and that Scientists did not believe in Jesus. I could not understand how they could heal, if it were the work of the devil; so I decided to investigate for myself. I did; and I thank God, for I know it is the truth and not of the devil.
I have had many ills, such as stomach trouble, catarrh, lumbago, and rheumatism, from all of which I now am entirely healed. Two years ago one of my legs was very badly swollen, and I could scarcely walk. With the help of a practitioner this was overcome in a very short time. There have been many difficulties which I have had, and I know that had it not been for Christian Science I would not be here to-day. Words cannot express how very thankful I am for the wonderful healings which have been experienced by me and mine. I not only am grateful for the physical help, but am most grateful for the spiritual uplift and the mental peace. I am also very grateful for our literature; and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, as well as to all those who have helped me along the way from sense to Soul.— Portland, Ore.
