THE WAY

From the August 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"The darkness is past, and the true light now shineth."—I John 2:8.

The night is past; through morning mists are shining
The sun's glad rays of tender golden light;
Deep in our hearts a grateful song is rising,
For now the way is straight before our sight

Through him who, on that night ere Calvary's darkness,
Prayed that his friends be one in Truth divine;
And in his new commandment bade us follow
The way he proved, of Life and Love sublime.

And she who followed close the Master's footsteps,
And following him, the path of thorns hath trod,
Hath blazed afresh for us that shining pathway;
And through their stripes our feet with peace are shod.

And as in "Christ's dear love" "Miscellaneous Writings," by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 330). we follow upward,
E'er guided by the Shepherd's gentle rod,
We walk the gleaming highway with our brother,
And see in light of Love the Son of God.
