Christian Science appealed to me the first time I heard of it, twenty-nine years ago. I went with my grandfather to visit a friend, who told him something about this great truth. I remember how eager and pleased he was with what he had been told; for he was in search of something that would help his daughter, who was suffering from tuberculosis; and materia medica had done all that it could for her. Christian Science treatment was that day asked for, and after two or three treatments she was healed and able to be up and around; and she is well and happy to-day.
I was a young girl at the time, and did not realize the importance of study. Fourteen years ago I was very much in need of help for an organic trouble, and having been under the doctor's care for two or three years, I turned to Christian Science in earnest and was healed of this condition through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Since then it has met my every need. I have had many physical healings, of ulcerated teeth, pleurisy, tonsillitis, coughs and colds, grippe, ptomaine poisoning, and numerous other ills. The healing of tonsillitis and colds was a wonderful relief, after being under their apparent dominion for years.
I am very grateful for all these physical healings, but most grateful for the change Christian Science has made in my life, and for the joy and happiness it has brought me. I am also very grateful for class instruction. Words cannot express the love I feel for our beloved Leader and for what she has done for us. I only hope that my life will be "psalm of gratitude," and that I may follow as nearly as possible what our Leader tells us in one of her poems (p. 14):
