At one time my youngest child became very ill. A Christian Science practitioner was called on the telephone, and in less than three days he was well, having in that time passed through all the stages of a severe case of measles. At another time word was sent me from school that he had broken his arm while in the gymnasium. I telephoned to a practitioner for help, and when I reached the school the surgeon whom they had called said it was such a bad break at the wrist that it could not be properly set without an anaesthetic. Not having any with him, he recommended that a temporary splint be put on. This was done. When we reached home my husband requested that another physician be called to set the bone, and that first an X-ray photograph be taken. We all three went to the hospital, but before going I again called the practitioner. When the doctor looked at the X-ray picture he said the bones were all in their right places, and that no setting of them was necessary.
At another time this child became very ill with pneumonia. With the practitioner's help this was overcome in three days. A period of great weakness followed, but this was also healed, and the child returned to school, having been away less than two weeks.
One afternoon this boy ran a nail into his foot, and in spite of our earnest work in our endeavors to know the truth as taught in Christian Science the condition became very acute. This lasted through the night until four o'clock in the morning when quite suddenly all pain left and the boy slept peacefully. I returned to my room. On awakening, the child was well and happy.
