It is just a few years since I heard for the first time the words, "God is Love." I am grateful to those who have helped me to realize the truth of this statement.
Mrs. Eddy says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 225), "Truth makes man free," and, "Love is the liberator." When I asked for help in Christian Science, I was very far from being free—my troubles were both mental and physical; but Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." So, with the desire which Mrs. Eddy tells us is prayer, I was led to ask, and to seek, and to knock. With the first knock the door to my consciousness was opened enough for me to know that I was on the right road. With the help of a practitioner and earnest study on my own part, the healings which I sought at that time were slowly realized. I was healed of nervousness and of liver and heart trouble. As a result, I am happy to be one of the many thousands who can testify to the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science.
Through the daily study of Mrs. Eddy's works, of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the periodicals, I am learning to know that Truth does make men free. As Paul says, "I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark."
