Testimonies of Healing

Through the sincere desire of a...

From the November 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Through the sincere desire of a member of my family who had turned to Christian Science for physical healing, I consented to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, though for many years I had entertained an ignorantly critical opinion of it. To my amazement, I found my prejudice being dispelled, and soon realized that my former concept of Christian Science had been entirely erroneous. Later, I attended the church services and was impressed with their simplicity, dignity, and sincerity.

At that time, in accordance with the advice of a specialist, I was wearing glasses for all work requiring close attention, because of astigmatism of many years' standing. As I continued reading, I became certain that the proper application of the Christ, Truth, would heal, and asked a practitioner to aid me in overcoming the defective vision. The trouble was quickly eliminated, and the glasses were permanently discarded. Since then, more than thirteen years, I have used my eyes continually for clerical work, with no return of the inharmonious condition.

Christian Science has become the inspiring motive of my existence. I have been protected from accidents and delivered from many shackling discords of resentment, criticism, grief, and self-will. Influenza, mumps, and burns have disappeared before the invincible power of Truth. The bite of a poisonous insect was proved powerless, although the experience had some alarming aspects to be eradicated.
