From much wrong thinking I had become the victim of a seemingly serious nervous condition that threatened my sanity. In my great need a dear neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, came in and asked me to have Christian Science treatments. I was not at all willing to investigate Christian Science, but I was so discouraged I seemed to be driven to it. I was so anxious to be well that I made a desperate effort to get an understanding. When I think of the patience and charity it must have taken on the part of the practitioner, I can never be grateful enough for her loving help. We both worked as faithfully as we knew how, and in about two months' time I was well and happy. Following this, my family and I went to California to spend the summer.
One day while walking down the street in Los Angeles, we suddenly realized there was an earthquake. In the midst of the disturbance I had not one thought of fear. Only those who have had such an experience can know the tenderness and gentleness of the peace that seemed to enfold me. Divine Love had truly met my human need. (See Science and Health, p. 494.)
My prayer is that my life may reflect the gratitude I feel to Mrs. Eddy for her life-work in giving us Christian Science.—Kansas City, Missouri.
