Most of us are familiar with the words of Christ Jesus, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." About eleven years ago, when I was weary and heavy-laden, this message invited and directed me to Christian Science. At that time our only child was in a very nervous condition, suffering from what physicians termed cerebral palsy. The stomach did not function, and there was no control of the bowels. Such extreme fear was also manifested that it bound the child and me to the house for over a year; we were also unable to have anyone come to visit us because of this extreme fear.
Christian Science treatment was given, and after a few months the extreme fear was overcome. The child would stay with others, until the time came when he would stay with strangers. Then we were able to take him visiting. The functioning of the stomach and control of the bowels were also restored; colds which the child seemed to contract one after another every winter were healed; and there has been no return of them for over six years. Spasms, which seemed very severe, have been healed. Restlessness at night has also been overcome, the child now sleeping peacefully and normally. I know that as I continue in the Word of God and "hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 261 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the child's God-given freedom and perfection will continue to unfold.
Treatment was also given me. I have been healed of many physical ailments, all of which were quickly overcome and destroyed through Christian Science. I was healed of pneumonia in three days, and was entirely freed from the after effects of the disease — weariness and weakness. Tonsillitis, acute constipation, distended gall bladder, acute biliousness, and headaches, were healed with one or two treatments. I have been protected from sorrow and depression when loved ones have passed on. Relief from limitation has come through the assurance that God has given us "sufficiency in all things." Through the study and application of Christian Science I have become more loving and patient. I have found the God who does not afflict, but delivers His children from all affliction; who is ever available, no matter where we are or what the circumstance or condition.
