I too am most grateful for Christian Science. After five years of semi-invalidism as the result of an operation (and the doctors said that another must be performed soon), I obtained a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from the library and read this book for two weeks, most of the time lying on my back and unable to straighten my legs. By the time the book had to be returned, I was healed of the trouble diagnosed by the doctors, of the use of eyeglasses, of recurring attacks of quinsy that I had always had twice a year even after the removal of my tonsils, and of a terrible temper. These healings occurred in November, 1912, and there has never been a recurrence of these ills.
Since then I have relied absolutely on the power of the law of God for the overcoming of discord of every kind. Not once has Christian Science failed me when rightly applied. It has supplied my needs, and sustained me at times when material aid could not have availed. In 1920 I was healed of a so-called incurable heart disease by two weeks' absent treatment from a practitioner.
The periodicals are a constant inspiration, containing articles that are needed just when they appear. We are told on pages 44 and 45 of the Manual that "God requires our whole heart, and He supplies within the wide channels of The Mother Church dutiful and sufficient occupation for all its members." I am finding this true as a member of both The Mother Church and a branch church. The only way that I can express my gratitude is to be obedient to the Rules and By-Laws laid down in our Manual and textbook and strive to reflect that Love which is "reflected in love" (Science and Health, p. 17).— Memphis, Tennessee.
