THAT God is the sole creator of the universe, including man; the supreme intelligence governing all that is real; infinite Mind; and that man is God's image and likeness, is learned through study of the first chapter of Genesis. These facts are of primal importance to the practical Christian of to-day. Furthermore, through the revelation of Christian Science, as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we are led to understand that all is divine Mind, and therefore that matter is unreal. And the student of Christian Science learns to resolve things into ideas, since all is Mind.
A radical change is taking place in the thinking of many seekers for Truth as to the nature of "substance." For long, matter has been accepted as real and substantial. Practically all educational systems and so-called natural sciences have been based on this supposition. But matter is doomed to decay by the very so-called laws of mortal belief which claim to give it birth; and therein lies the reason why it does not and cannot satisfy.
"Substance," our Leader tells us on page 468 of Science and Health, "is that which is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance." God, as understood in Christian Science, includes all substance. God being infinite and ever present, substance is ever available, ever practical in its application to our every need, satisfying man with health, happiness, and every good thing.
