A feeling of deep gratitude prompts me to give a testimony telling of the great blessings I have received in Christian Science. I have enjoyed reading The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, and the testimonies in them have encouraged me to search the Scriptures, and to learn of God and His spiritual ideas, which are a wonderful comfort to me.
On page 506 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we find the words, "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear." Meditation upon these words has meant much to me. I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, although I suffered from aches and pains of various kinds, unpleasant environment, discouragement, and a broken heart. I drifted down the valley into the depths of despondency, which ended in a severe nervous breakdown. I did not then know one word of the teachings of Christian Science, and I had never heard of Science and Health.
Over twenty years ago a dear brother who was interested in Christian Science asked me to buy a copy of the textbook and read it. I obeyed his request, and the seed was sown; and I now praise God for His perfect truth. Having been a member of an orthodox church since I was a young girl, I had a doubting fear of this religion, and so I hesitated. I once was blind about this truth, but now I know that God directs and governs me; and for this I express gratitude.
