Testimonies of Healing

It is with profound gratitude for...

From the March 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with profound gratitude for a healing of a sprained ankle that I give this testimony. During the cold, stormy days of February, 1926, I was spending a day in one of our suburbs, and while out walking snow began to fall, covering the icy remains of a previous snowstorm. I fell, my foot turning in under me, and something seemed to snap. I tried to realize the truth, but as I had two little children with me, fear that I might not get them safely home crept in. A passer-by assisted me to rise, and in a taxi I was able to get the dear children home and then to think about my own condition. In the meantime the foot had become very much discolored and swollen, so that I was unable to get home to New York by train in the usual way; but "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need,' as Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' (p. 494), and so I was taken back to New York by automobile. In the meantime I had telephoned to a practitioner, who started giving me treatment at once, and there was no fear during the drive of an hour and a quarter over the snowy roads. Next morning the practitioner lovingly came to see me, and worked with me until all fear left. There was practically no pain. In two weeks I was able to put on my shoe and go downstairs. Three weeks afterwards severe pain manifested itself, and I called the practitioner on the telephone. I removed a bandage I was wearing, and after that felt no more pain; and the foot is now the same as the other. I have since walked many miles, and up and down subway stairs, and there has been no discomfort. To say that I am grateful is putting it mildly.

I have had many other evidences of the efficacy of Christian Science for my family as well as for myself. I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of taking a small part in the activities of the latter. My great desire is so to grow in the knowledge of Truth that I may do for others what has been done for me.—

I am glad to certify that the foregoing testimony of my wife is true in every detail. I greatly rejoice in her recovery, and am happy to express my deep gratitude for it and for the many other blessings we have received. I am also very grateful for the Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings.—
