I am very grateful for an instantaneous healing in Christian Science, and for the proof that with every ill destroyed we are stronger and better able to overcome seemingly greater discords.
One summer evening biliousness seemed to get the better of me. I tried to realize that the stomach, bowels, and other organs of the body of themselves have no power; that divine Mind is the only real power. With this thought I went to sleep, and the next morning I was healed. After breakfast I took off my glasses to shave, and while shaving rejoiced over the healing of the night before. The thought then came to me that divine Mind governs all His ideas, and that therefore there was no need to wear glasses. After shaving I told my wife that I was going to work without my glasses; but I carried them in my pocket. On my way I stopped to see a practitioner, with the desire of being fully protected. That day I seemed to have more detail in my work than usual, but I finished the day without having used the glasses; and that night I did not have any more eye fatigue than I had experienced many times while wearing them. The next day, also, I went to work with the glasses in my pocket. The realization then came to me that I was not placing my entire faith in God since I was still carrying them about with me. I therefore left them at home, and since that time I have never worn them. This healing occurred about two years ago. Prior to that time I had worn glasses for twenty-three years, and at no time had any hope been given that I might outgrow the defect.
