When Christian Science came to me I was said to be on the brink of the grave. I was born and reared in Germany, and was living there at the time Christian Science came to my attention. I had then been suffering for about seven years. Prominent doctors had treated me during these years, but all the means they used had failed. The ailments had been diagnosed as heart trouble, ulcers of the stomach, diseased lungs, and hemorrhages. The last doctor pronounced me tubercular, and this filled me with fear.
I had always loved to read the Bible, especially the four Gospels, relating to Christ Jesus' words and works, and had often felt that it would be wonderful to experience such healing. About the time the last doctor gave the discouraging diagnosis, a dear friend, who I afterwards learned was a Christian Scientist, told me that God would heal me. When I told my husband of my desire to talk more with her, he demurred; but I went to see her, and she handed me a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science, in which I read some articles and testimonies which filled me with joy and hope. Then she let me see "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and gave me a few copies of Der Herold. Realizing that my hopes and prayers were being answered, I almost ran home. When my husband came he looked at me very strangely. I said to him: "Come and see what I have. I have found the Christ-healing, and I am healed!" And so it proved to be. In the same calendar year we left Germany for America, and in the medical examinations incident to obtaining a passport, physicians pronounced me healthy. One of these physicians had treated me during my illness. From the time my dear friend gave me Der Herold, I have used only Christian Science for healing; and to Christian Science alone is due the credit for my present happy, healthy condition. I am grateful for the privilege of helping others through my little understanding of Truth.—Omaha, Nebraska.
With heartfelt gratitude I verify the wonderful healing my wife has had through Christian Science. She is free from all bodily ailments. I am also thankful that I have found healing through Christian Science. Several healings have come to me through my study of Mrs. Eddy's writings.—
