Fourteen years ago, through the healing of invalidism I came into Christian Science. At that time my consciousness was pretty well filled with the so-called laws of materia medica, as I had spent seven years in one of our largest hospitals, three years as a pupil nurse and four years as a graduate.
Christian Science had already been brought to my attention through a friend; but while I thought it a beautiful religion I did not believe it could heal, or that there was healing for me. I was at an extremity, as my last physician had advised me to go to a hospital and have an exploratory incision made. This I knew to be all that the name implies. As already stated, I had heard of Christian Science but did not think it could heal me. Neither did I think it could hurt me; and this was my thought when I went to a practitioner of whom I had heard. The effect of the applied truth was instantaneous, as I began feeling better immediately after the first treatment, and to my great surprise found that I could be up and around and could eat and retain food, something I had not been able to do for months. The healing, however, was not complete for about seven years. During that time I worked, watched, and prayed for that Mind to be in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," and that I might know more about God and man's relation to Him. As I did this my healing came, health, harmony, and happiness replacing sickness and many other inharmonious conditions.
Since this healing I have had many other beautiful proofs of the power of Truth, and I desire to express my gratitude for the understanding of God and man's relation to Him which I have gained through the study of Christian Science, discovered and taught by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. My prayer is that I may be able to reflect this Christ, Truth, to others as it has been reflected to me.— Indianapolis, Indiana.
