Some time ago our little boy, aged ten years, was stricken with what the doctors call bronchial pneumonia and pleurisy. For two weeks the doctor attended him every day, and X-ray pictures taken of his lungs were said to show considerable fluid. A portable quartz lamp was brought to the bedside and artificial sunlight treatments were given, as the doctor said the child's vitality must be built up or he would never throw off the poison. We were not satisfied, as no improvement was evident in the two weeks; so two consultations were held with a very highly recommended hing specialist, but with no benefit. Finally, on the fourteenth day, when the doctor came early in the morning, the child's fever was very high and he was practically unconscious, except for a racking cough that seemed to cause him great distress. The doctor said he was sorry to have to tell us our boy was worse, but he did not seem to have any suggestions to offer. As I had had a little experience with Christian Science and had talked about it with my husband, we told the doctor that we were determined to try it for our boy. He was very skeptical, and showed quite plainly that he expected to be called back on the case before many hours had passed. I could hardly wait until he had left the house, to get to the telephone and call up a Christian Science practitioner. Work was started for us at once.
When I went upstairs again our boy was resting easier, and in an hour or so he wanted a "real good meal," to use his own words. Previous to this he had begged us not to ask him to eat. Needless to say, I hastened to give him what he asked for. When the practitioner called later in the day the boy was propped up in bed playing with his toys. He also walked from one room to the next that day—he had not been up for over a week. He never went back once, from the moment Christian Science treatments were given him; and in a very few days was up and out of doors. Since then he has shown improvement in every way. Before, he was slow in his class work at school and dreaded his lessons; now they are a pleasure to him, and easily accomplished. We know that all credit is due to Christian Science.
My husband was healed in one treatment of severe boils on the neck, from which he had suffered for over a month. He had been forced to remain away from his office for a good part of that time. I myself have regained health and strength, and have lost the fear of heart trouble of long standing. Since my first treatment in Christian Science I have never taken a drop of the medicine which the doctors assured me I must never be without.
