Great gratitude impels me to give this testimony. The first time I heard of Christian Science I was sick and in despair. For more than three years I had been suffering from a chronic swelling of the knee, and I could no longer walk without using a cane. Medical treatment and many other remedies were of no avail.
In 1925 I was examined again by a specialist, and he told me that I was suffering from tuberculosis of the knee joint. Walking was strictly forbidden, and my leg was put in an apparatus which I was obliged to wear during the daytime. To my oft-repeated question, whether I should ever get well again, I was told that I must have patience, that it took years for anything like that to heal. From this time on I broke down completely, physically and mentally. At a time of greatest extremity, in March, 1926, dear friends led me to Christian Science. I asked a practitioner for help, which was most lovingly given. After the first treatment I could lay aside the apparatus, and grew stronger from day to day. Through earnest study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, fear, which until then had governed me, was gradually dispelled, and a beneficial peace and harmony entered my heart. I began to attend the Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings regularly, and recognized God's love more and more. My whole thought was changed. Now I know that God's goodness is ever present, and that I, being near to Him, am supplied with everything in abundance. To-day I am completely healed. I take care of our home without any sense of fatigue, and have also been on walking tours with my family for days at a time.
I am so happy and grateful that I learned about Christian Science, for through it I have become a happy, contented, and healthy person. I am deeply grateful to our beloved Leader for her beautiful teaching.— Radebeulb /Dresden, Germany
