Testimonies of Healing

This testimony is prompted by...

From the May 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This testimony is prompted by sincere gratitude for the many blessing received through the revelation of the truth taught by Mary Baker Eddy in her wonderful textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings. During my early life I often longed for some explanation which would make the Bible clearer to me. Believing that sometime the truth would be revealed and the Scriptures fulfilled, I attended the services of many churches, as well as the one of which I had been a member from childhood. Information regarding the healing of sickness through faith in God and earnest prayer, was very interesting to me; but how to obtain this healing remained uncertain until my daughter came home ill about six years ago. She had obtained medical advice in her home town with little benefit. The doctors whom we consulted diagnosed her trouble as nerve collapse with low blood pressure, the treatment for which was quiet and rest, together with the help of osteopathic treatment in the hope that it would hasten recovery; but all these efforts seemed to be fruitless.

One day after reading some Christian Science literature, my daughter remarked that she thought Christian Science was the truth, and as she seemed greatly interested in it I got the textbook from the public library. Within a few days she joined in the family life and interests downstairs, and very soon was able to take the motor car out and go driving wherever she wished, without any ill effects. The results of learning that God is not the author of sickness, and of understanding the unreality of all the trouble which had kept her for four months in a condition where she seemed almost too weak to live, were soon apparent in returning health and strength.

Neither tongue nor pen can describe the feeling of joy and gratitude that I experienced at that time. With a sense of reverence I determined to learn more about this wonderful healing power, which to my former manner of thinking had performed a miracle. After six years of study and putting what I have learned into practice, I can truthfully say that many healings have been experienced, and our Leader's statement (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," has been proved to be the truth.—
