About fifteen years ago I was told by several physicians that a serious condition, which had caused severe hemorrhages, would not yield to local treatments and an operation would be imperative. Shortly after this I was ordered into southern Ohio on business covering a period of sixteen weeks. Fear kept me from making another visit to the doctors. However, a few days before leaving I met our family physician on the street. He warned me of the terrible consequences attending further delay, and was openly dismayed to learn of my leaving home under such conditions.
At the close of my first week's work I met one who was later to become a friend indeed. After a short acquaintance she asked me if I should like to attend a Christian Science service. The pleasure of her company rather than my interest in her religion prompted me to accompany her. It was a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and during the silent prayer I was completely healed. I know now that this is one of the purposes of the silent prayer. Having been reared in a doctor's family and accustomed to medical means of healing, I was amazed and scarcely able to realize my freedom, in spite of the fact that all discomfort had disappeared.
Some time later I took up the study of Christian Science. Now when doubt or fear assails, the fact of this healing reassures me. The members of our family have also been healed of many discordant conditions. My husband is guided in his business by turning to the divine Mind, as we are taught to do in Christian Science.
